Man Dies In Armed Standoff With Kalamazoo Police Wednesday
Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Deputies originally went to the Pavilion Estates Mobile Home Park in Pavilion Township around noon Wednesday to talk with a couple parked in a vehicle, after the owner of a trailer said the two had been squatting on his property. When deputies approached, they say the man got out of the car and pulled out a gun, firing one shot into the air.

The Battle Creek Public Schools say Thursday morning that authorities in Springfield let them know there was an active shooter situation in the area of Valley View Elementary and Springfield Middle School; as a result, the district made the call to cancel classes.
Dead Body Found Alongside I-94 During Rush Hour In Battle Creek
The Michigan State Police Marshall Post says they were called around 4:20pm Wednesday to eastbound I-94 near Capital Avenue, on reports of an unresponsive woman. When troopers arrived they found the woman in a ditch, and she was pronounced dead.

Fountain of the Pioneers To Be Removed After Kalamazoo Vote
The Kalamazoo City Commission was in session for hours, and finally voted after 1am Tuesday, to remove the Fountain of the Pioneers amid complaints over its alleged racist iconography. After the 5-1 vote, the Fountain of the Pioneers will be removed sometime this year. A new location for the statue has not yet been found.

Last week, Kalamazoo County authorities obtained a warrant for 34-year-old Rachel Kaiser, after they believe she embezzled over $3,500 from Kalamazoo Strong by creating a credit card connected to the organization’s PayPal account.
Kalamazoo Authorities Find Body In Floodwaters Sunday
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says that they were called to the 500 block of Riverview Dr. just after 11am Sunday, after someone said they saw a dead body. Police say they did find the “obviously deceased” man lying in the water, and recovered the body.
