Snow is a few months away (we hope) so is it bad to drive on winter tires before the snow falls? I have been driving a newer car for about 6 weeks now and just noticed I have snow tires. This got me thinking, is it harder on the tires in the summer? According to Bridgestone,

Winter tires are specially designed for cold temperatures and winter precipitation. Once it gets warm, you won't need deep tread depths to handle snow or biting edges for traction on ice. Here are some specific reasons why using winter tires year round is not recommended.

So the answer is that you should not drive on them year round. Instead, they recommend you purchase a second set of rims so you can then have a set for summer and a set for winter.

Guess I will be in the market for some rims.
