Michigan Department of Treasury is facilitating the award of scholarship money to deserving students: 5 million of them, with dollars totaling $25 billion.

Set a reminder for 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9 for a free webinar called “Scholarships for College” in honor of National Scholarship Month. Michigan's state treasury department and Sallie Mae will help parents and students go through the challenges of finding, applying and increasing chances for being awarded scholarships.

Finding scholarships to pay for college can be overwhelming and many people don’t know where to begin. This webinar will educate and inform parents and students about some of the options available when searching for financial assistance that doesn’t have to be paid back.

-Anne Wohlfert, director of the Michigan Department of Treasury's Student Financial Services Bureau

Parents and students are asked to register prior to participating in the webinar. To sign up, go to the “Scholarships for College” website and click the “Register” button at the bottom of the Web page.

The Michigan Department of Treasury’s MI Student Aid program encourages students to pursue postsecondary education by providing equality of access to student financial resources and information. For more information, go to www.michigan.gov/mistudentaid.
