New 2017 CMA Awards Promos Focus on ‘The Heart of Country Music’ [WATCH]
In a newly released pair of teasers, the Country Music Association gives fans a bit of insight into this year’s CMA Awards. Both video clips focus on the heart of country music, nodding to the past and highlighting the present.
The first 2017 CMA Awards video teaser, which readers can watch above, kicks off with Garth Brooks’ “The Thunder Rolls” playing in the background. It features clips of Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood browsing through a gallery of iconic country music memorabilia, including a shirt emblazoned with “Bocephus” in rhinestones, tons of vintage photos and Loretta Lynn’s guitar.
“Artists of today and legends of tomorrow share one night, one heart, beating stronger than ever,” Underwood says at the end of the clip, providing a hint into this year’s awards show theme.
The second clip, which readers can see below, starts off with many of the aforementioned artists talking about their introductory experiences with the genre, but more directly sends a message that reflects that same theme: “The heart of country music beats stronger than ever.”
A focus on the heart of country music feels particularly fitting for the 2017 CMA Awards ceremony, at which Brooks and Underwood are set to perform, along with Alan Jackson, Little Big Town, Chris Stapleton and Jon Pardi. This year’s awards will take place a little over one month after the Oct. 1 Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting in Las Vegas, Nev., during which a gunman killed more than 50 concertgoers and injured more than 500 more.
The 2017 CMA Awards are scheduled to air on ABC on Nov. 8, at 8PM ET; the ceremony will take place live at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. Paisley and Underwood will host the ceremony for the 10th year in a row.
