You may first think of fins, but did you know Mattawan's Wolf Lake State Fish Hatchery is home to more than 175 species of birds?

At 34270 County Road 652 near Mattawan, It is an ideal location for viewing Spring migratory birds like trumpeter swans, yellow warblers, song sparrows and the rare glossy ibis and yellow-headed blackbird.

I think people would be pleasantly surprised by the assortment of outdoor fun to be had when visiting Wolf Lake. As spring approaches, we hope bird enthusiasts will plan a visit to mark some sightings off their list.
