What Was Matthew McConaughey Doing In Northern Michigan?

If a celebrity pops up in Michigan it is usually in the Detroit or Grand Rapids area.  Recently Matthew McConaughey was spotted in Northern Michigan near Traverse City. 

According to the story at M-Live,  the Oscar winning actor was in Northern Michigan researching an upcoming role in the film, "White Boy Rick".  The film about the jailed FBI informant from Detroit.

He was in the area to visit inmate Richard Wershe Jr.  at the Oaks Correctional Facility in Manistee.   McConaughey is set to play his father in the upcoming film that will be out in January.  He grabbed a few beers in Traverse City before heading out.

This story is interesting for a film and it is cool to see someone like McConaughey helping bring it to the screen.   Now it is not known if he will make another trip to Michigan or if any of the film will be shot here.   I guess we will wait and see what happens and check out the film next year.
