More than 250 vehicles from agencies across the State of Michigan honored the late Comstock Fire Chief Ed Switalski on June 21.

On June 14, 2017, Comstock Fire Chief Switalski was killed in the line of duty. The morning of June 21, firefighters, police, first responders and emergency personnel from across the state honored Chief Switalski with a procession from the funeral home to Wings Event Center where public funeral services were held.

The center stall at Comstock firehouse on River St. was draped with a black flag. Battle Creek Rescue No. 3 manned the post and laid a uniform at the roadside as an antique fire truck stopped at the station and rang the final bell for Chief Switalski.

A black car carrying family members followed as Kalamazoo County Sheriff cars bookended a procession that included more than 250 emergency vehicles from departments across Michigan, come to pay their respects to a fallen comrade.
