Smokers if you visit Van Andel Arena in the future a change is taking place that you should be aware of.

According to News 8,  the arena in downtown Grand Rapids is going to become a smoke free arena in September.

That means no smoking of any kind will be allowed at the arena.  Once the change occurs there will be no smoking area set up outside the arena.

If you leave to smoke you will not be allowed back in.  Many stadiums and arenas in the state including Little Caesars Arena, Michigan Stadium, Chrysler Center, Breslin Center and Spartan Stadium have similar rules in place.

Smoke free also includes a former ban of vaping and e cigarettes.   The smoke free change will be in place for the first event scheduled in September which is Fall Out Boy  on September 6th.
