The Tigers lost to the Royals, 7-4 Wednesday night in Kansas City.

It looked like the Tigers would finally end their losing streak at 8 in Kansas City, as they built an early 3-0 lead.

Third baseman Jeimer Candelario knocked in two runs.

James McCann’s hit scored another to stake starter Jordan Zimmermann to a lead.

The Tigers missed a scoring chance when center fielder Paulo Orlando robbed Nick Castellanos of an extra base hit.

Zimmerman pitched well, as he continues to try and end the season on a positive note.  Zimmermann went six innings, giving up just 4 hits and two runs.

But the bullpen failed to do the job again for the Tigers, as they surrendered five late runs and the Tigers dropped their 9th straight.

Alex Presley had three hits and scored two Tiger runs.  Candelario and Castellanos each had two hits.

After one more in Kansas City, the Tigers will play their final three games of the season in Minnesota this weekend.  The Twins have clinched at least a tie for the final wild card spot.

Daniel Norris starts for the Tigers tonight in KC.  Hear the game at 8pm on 95.3 WBCK.
