Thomas Rhett Sings His Dad’s ‘That Ain’t My Truck’ With Country Adoptee Peyton Manning

Thomas Rhett attended the Celebration of Caring Gala over the weekend, hosted by Peyton Manning to raise funds for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St. Vincent. Rhett was a performer at the event at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind., and invited the Former Colts quarterback to join him for a special collaboration.

As he launched into a performance of 1995’s “That Ain’t My Truck” on Saturday night (March 10), Manning stepped up to help with the chorus. Rhett even stepped away from the mic to give Manning the lead on the song, which was originally recorded by the country singer’s father, Rhett Akins.

After warming up with Rhett, Manning covered Johnny Cash‘s “Folsom Prison Blues” solo, reports.

This is far from the first time Manning has taken the stage with the genre’s top artists. Previously, the football legend sang with Luke Bryan, Jake Owen, Dierks Bentley and Cole Swindell during his annual Celebration of Caring event, and last year Chris Stapleton invited Manning onstage to help him sing “Tennessee Whiskey” during a headlining concert at Red Rocks. In 2016, Manning sang with Lee Brice during a small show at Nashville’s Winners bar, assisting Brice and Shay Mooney of Dan + Shay for an unforgettable  performance of “Rocky Top.” In 2003, Manning appeared at a Kenny Chesney stadium show to sing “Back Where I Come From.”

With plenty of support from the country community, one can only guess where Manning will pop up next.
