The first Detroit Zoo opened in 1883 after a recently-arrived circus went broke. The wildlife park as we know it today opened at Woodward and 10 Mile in 1928. Take a look back at the animal habitat in these photographs circa 1955 and early 60's home video footage shot with an 8mm camera, not a cell phone.
