The lawsuit was filed in December 2016 by a former employee of the Loy Norrix High School, and claims that Principal Rodney Prewitt made unwanted sexual advances towards her and other employees. The lawsuit says that when the employee rebuffed Prewitt’s advances, she was denied a new position in the district that she had been vying for.

The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office says that since August, they have received complaints from several senior living facilities that a woman has been calling their residents, claiming to be a representative from the bank’s fraud department.

On Thursday, Senator Margaret O’Brien of Portage introduced the bill, which would name 6 miles of I-94 between Sprinkle Rd. and Galesburg in honor of Switalski. In a release to her website, Sen. O’Brien says that renaming the highway will not only honor Chief Switalski’s contributions to the community, but it will also serve as a reminder to motorists to drive safe.

On Wednesday, the Office announced in a release that James VanDyken will be taking the role, a promotion from his current role as Captain of their operations division. The 47-year-old VanDyken has worked with the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office since 1991, starting out a jail deputy and getting promoted steadily since then.
