A prominent business owner in Marshall had their vehicle struck by debris on I-94 Monday afternoon.

BCU says in a release Tuesday that Restore (269) worked together with them on a plan to renovate the building at 15 Carlyle St, which faces the Battle Creek River. As a result of the plan, the building has now been awarded to Restore (269), and they plan on turning it into a mixed-use facility known as The Record Box.

One of the victims, 36-year-old Jason Brown, tells 95.3 WBCK his side of the story, saying he and his 17-year-old son were stabbed by a man after a confrontation. Detective Graves also characterized other media reports that the stabbing was over a parking spot or a woman as inaccurate, saying he had "no clue" where that story originated.

The Michigan State Police Marshall Post says they were called around 4:20pm Wednesday to eastbound I-94 near Capital Avenue, on reports of an unresponsive woman. When troopers arrived they found the woman in a ditch, and she was pronounced dead.

At the Battle Creek City Commission meeting Tuesday night, two ordinances regarding the zoning and licensing of medical marijuana growers, testers, processors, transporters and dispensaries were voted on. Mayor Mark Behnke tells 95.3 WBCK that the ordinances passed 8-0, with Vice Mayor Dave Walters absent.

When the plant began requiring workers to work every other Saturday, two Seventh-day Adventist workers were fired, because they do not work on Saturdays.

The district sent out a letter on Wednesday, with district Superintendent Joseph Huepenbecker saying that school officials contacted law enforcement and child protective services after they learned of the possibility of inappropriate conduct by an employee.
