You won't have to travel to a galaxy far, far away to see original costumes and other artifacts used to create the imaginative 'Star Wars' universe; a Detroit Institute of Arts exhibit opens.

Urban Detroit may have looked like another world before the resurgence and in 2018 movie fans and science fiction aficionados can explore the galaxy of 'Star Wars' in the exhibit "'Star Wars' and the Power of Costume," coming to the Detroit Institute of Arts May 20-September 30, 2018.

Detroit Free Press reports "more than 150 items and sketches will help illustrate the process of creating the apparel and accessories of the "Star Wars" universe." From the Jedi robes of Luke Skywalker to the life-sustaining armor of Darth Vader, the exhibit will also examine the droids C-3PO, R2-D2, and BB-8, and the process it took to bring Wookies, Ewoks, sandpeople and all the other assorted denizens of the galaxy to life in the big screen saga.
