Fire trucks and emergency vehicles will parade from the funeral home on Kalamazoo's West side past all 3 Comstock Fire Dept. buildings and end at Wings Event Center where a public funeral will be held.

Comstock Fire Chief Ed Switalski was killed in the line of duty while attending to an accident scene on I-94 on June 14. Kalamazoo area residents are encouraged to attend public visitation, funeral services and line the streets for a planned procession to pay their respects.

  • Public visitation: Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 S. 9th Street, Kalamazoo from 11-3, 4-8 Tuesday, June 20
  • Procession: Begins 9:30 am on Wednesday, June 21. Emergency vehicles, police and fire apparatus will make up this procession- it is not open to the public. Those wanting to honor Chief Switalski are asked to line the streets as the route will go North to Stadium Drive, across town past all 3 Comstick Fire Stations and end at Wings Event Center.
  • Funeral Services: Doors open at 10 am, Wednesday, June 21. Services will begin after the procession arrives, expected to be around noon.
