Luke Bryan’s ‘Most People Are Good’ Highlights Feel-Good ACM Awards

Luke Bryan continued the positive spin of the 2018 ACM Awards with his performance of “Most People are Good.”

A former ACM Entertainer of the Year, Bryan is known for entertaining with his uptempo, male booty shaking live performances, but “Most People are Good” shares a different sentiment than “Country Girl (Shake It for Me).”

It’s closer along the lines of his 2014 single “Drink a Beer,” and Bryan moved on the ACM Awards stage with simple composure, strumming acoustic guitar with minimal production, so fans could focus on the message of the song, which stresses Bryan’s faith in humanity.

I believe most people are good / And most mama’s oughta qualify for sainthood / I believe most Friday nights look better under neon or stadium lights / I believe you love who you love / Ain’t nothing you should ever be ashamed of / I believe this world ain’t half as bad as it looks / I believe most people are good.”

Written in 2016 by Josh Kear, David Frasier and Ed Hill, “Most People Are Good” was created out of Kear’s desperation to find a silver lining after the intensely negative 2016 presidential election. The songwriter notes he’s an optimist and the song is a reflection of that. Kenny Chesney also opened the show with his latest single “Get Along,” which shares a similar positive reinforcement of society.

Bryan, who recently landed in 20th No. 1 single, was again nominated for Entertainer of the Year against fellow country powerhouses Jason Aldean, Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Chris Stapleton and Keith Urban.
