Lee Brice visited Today this week to perform his heartfelt new single, "Boy." The lead track from his upcoming self-titled album due out in November, "Boy" is sung from the perspective of a father looking at his newborn child and anticipating him growing up right before his eyes.

Penned by Nicolle Galyon and Jon Nite, Brice was immediately touched upon hearing the song, as he thought of his own young sons. During his live performance of the beautiful ballad on Today on Wednesday (June 28), the music video featuring his two boys played in the background. His family was watching at home, too — the singer shared a clip of his youngest son, Ryker, singing along from the couch:

Brice previously told Rolling Stone Country that he knew immediately the song "Boy" would strike a chord with listeners.

"I knew this song was going to resonate," Brice said in May. "I had a feeling the first time I heard it. It kills me – every night I sing it about my boys. I think about their health and I think about their futures and I think about my dad and what he must have thought and must have felt growing up, things I didn't realize then but realize now. All of that stuff piles up into one big emotion when you hear that song."
