Mother Nature has pushed back opening night at Kalamazoo Speedway one week.

Not only will the cold continue on Saturday, but it looks like rain for a good part of the day.

As a result, the 2015 opening race at Kalamazoo Speedway will be postponed one week to May 2.

Most facebook fans seem to think it is a good idea.

Track officials remind you that "the schedule of events for May 2nd will be exactly what was scheduled for April 25th, with pit gates opening at 11:00 and racing starting at 6:30. Adult tickets will be $15, with Teens 10-15 being $10, Kids 6-9 $2 and Kids 5 and under FREE! It also will be Alamo Township Night, meaning that all Alamo Township residents will now get to watch the Intimidator 100 for FREE," according to Kalamazoo Speedway.com.

Sadly, this will be a year without a Kalamazoo Country car.

Scott's has partnered with 102.5 for the last 2 seasons with Mark Shook moving from behind the counter to behind the wheel on Saturday nights.

This season, however, Scott is shifting his resources to continue the career of Carson Hocevar, his son. Even though he can't even leagally drive on the Kalamazoo streets, Carson has plenty of experience on the track with 55 National races and 11 National titles, making him the winningist driver in USAC Quarter Midgets.

In 2015, Carson is making his transition to "big car racing" and will be competing this season at Berlin Raceway in the Scott's #14.

Best of luck to Carson and Scott's Racing! Mark, thanks for sharing victory lane with us.

Even though there won't be a Kalamazoo Country car to root for, bring the family out to your Saturday night entertainment hot spot and enjoy the action as we drop the green flag on the 2015 season at Kalamazoo Speedway!
