With the recent false bomb warning that occurred in Hawaii and with growing tensions overseas, now more than ever people are taking the threat of nuclear war more serious. However, Friday night the Meijer at 315 Wilson Ave. in Grand Rapids was the host of someone possibly pranking the store with the threat of a nuclear attack.

According to WDIV 4 Detroit the warning which came over the intercom, missiles were coming toward the country at about 9:40 p.m.  Lindsay Flood and Juliana Gumina, who are students at Grand Valley State University said they were shopping when the missile threat came over the intercom, which sounded automated saying that the missiles would hit Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York in about 3 1/2 hours.

Soon after this message was heard throughout the store, another announcement came over the intercom system informing shoppers to disregard the previous warning.  The incident remains under investigation according to Walker Police who say that the warning was determined to be a prank and came from an unknown phone within the store.

If you have any information that could help bring a resolution to this incident, please contact the local police.
