Run a 5k in the morning, brag about it to your family and use it as a good excuse to eat more at the Thanksgiving table!

According to an article I didn't read in the Wall Street Journal, more running races are held on Thanksgiving than on any other day of the year. Last year, about 870,000 people ran a race on Thanksgiving.

Kalamazoo's Country 102.5 is proud to partner with Kalamazoo Area Runners (KAR) and invite you to participate in the Turkey Trot Time Prediction 5k; 9AM November 27 at Portage West Middle School.

This race is different from all the others in that it is truly your race. Awards are distributed not necessarily by fastest time, but by best predictions. You write down your best estimate of your 5k time and then leave your watch at home!

Prizes are also given for overall winners and biggest donations as KAR  will be helping to collect men’s, women’s and children’s socks for the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission and toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo and small toys for the children of the Portage Community Center.

So sign up, get in shape, be warmed up for those Black Friday sales, earn extra desserts and a well-deserved nap while you're watching the Lions and enjoying time with family on Thanksgiving.
