In an effort to revitalize Battle Creek’s downtown, the city’s local development organization is offering incentives.

Last week, Battle Creek Unlimited announced that they are seeking proposals for a brewery, brew pub or distillery to be located in the downtown area, preferably at one of the three properties BCU owns. Those properties are 15 Carlyle St, 119/121 W. Michigan Ave, and 64 W. Michigan Ave.

The accepted business would receive up to $200,000 in financial assistance to get started. Applicants are required to show experience in the industry, and show that they can secure their own capital.  BCU says that downtown Battle Creek is a “prime location” for a brewery business, as the city has a large workforce and has citizens who “love to have a good time”.

Applications are due by March 2; for more information, go to Battle Creek Unlimited's website and click "News and Announcements".
