CRF Frozen Foods Announces Major Recall Expansion of Fruits & Vegetables
CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington, has announced that it is expanding the recall of its frozen fruits and vegetables that began last month. The recall now covers all items produced at the company's Pasco plant since May 2014, covering any products with best-by dates or sell-by dates between April 26, 2016, and April 26, 2018.
The foods may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which the company describes as an organism that can cause:
...serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
Consumers with questions can call the company hotline at 844-483-3866. CRF Frozen Foods is working in coordination with the FDA in conducting the recall, which affects products in all 50 states. Those products include:
- organic and non-organic broccoli
- butternut squash
- green beans
- Italian beans
- lima beans
- pepper strips
- potato medley
- root medley
- sweet potatoes
- various vegetable medleys, blends, and stir fry packages
