There have been more construction projects on major highways in recent years and U.S. 31 is among the largest of improvements.

U.S. 31 was recently named a Historic Byway by the state. Traveling through several towns as it crosses Michigan. Where the route passes through Holland, it has been going through some major construction, diverting all traffic onto the North bound lanes. Starting on August 8th, traffic will be switched over to the South bound lanes, possibly making it more difficult to enter the Dutch Village.

According to The Holland Sentinel,

Most of MDOT’s work over the coming weeks will focus on repaving the southbound lanes between James Street south to 8th Street.

This is the final stage of construction on this section and should be complete before the snow falls.
