Brett Young spent some time writing songs with Charles Kelley when he was on the road with Lady Antebellum this year, and it looks like fans of both artists are going to benefit.

Young spent much of 2017 on the road with Lady A as a support act on their You Look Good Tour, and the singer-songwriter tells Taste of Country that one of the songs he wrote with Kelley will probably appear on his upcoming sophomore album, while another has been tentatively earmarked for Lady A's next project.

"Charles is a great writer," he enthuses. "Charles does it all really well. He definitely fell more into the melody when we were writing with these specific writers, and his melodies are so cool. You look at those Lady Antebellum records, there's a very identifiable sound, and I think a lot of those melody decisions are Charles, because it came out in our writes. One thing he brought specifically to the song it looks like I'm gonna cut for my record was a really cool melodic twist."

Young has been one of the breakout country artists of 2017. He reached No. 2 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart with his debut single, "Sleep Without You," and scored his first No. 1 hit with its follow-up, "In Case You Didn't Know." His third single, "Like I Loved You," is currently at country radio, and Young is on the road with Carly Pearce for his Caliville Tour, which marks his first run of dates as a headliner. He was also one of Taste of Country's picks for our RISERS program, which showcased the biggest rising stars of the year.
