Brandi Carlile was tired of hearing about a lack of females at music festivals, so she took action. The singer-songwriter will host an all-female festival next year.

The 2019 Girls Just Wanna Weekend lineup boasts performances by Maren Morris, Margo Price, Patty Griffin, Indigo Girls, Lucius, KT Tunstall, the Secret Sisters and Ruby Amanfu.

The destination concert vacation will be held at the all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel in Riviera Maya, Mexico, from Jan. 30-Feb. 3, 2019. Carlile will perform several times throughout the event. Tickets for the festival go on sale Aug. 1 at 12PM ET via the festival's website.

“Mainstream festivals in the U.S. habitually exclude women as headline artists equal to men," Carlile says. "I was brought up by Lilith Fair to believe that men and women enjoy live music equally and that women can not only headline a festival — they can be a festival. I’m proud to announce that our festival has an all female-fronted lineup. I would absolutely love to see a ton of men there supporting women in rock and roll, I want to see mothers with children, single people, LGBTQ brothers and sisters letting it all go for a weekend together in harmony."

Morris is especially excited, writing on Twitter:

In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Carlile further explains that festivals she's been a part of, like Cayamo, have taught her how collaborative and fun fans and artists can be when they're both experiencing the joy of a vacation. "Beautiful musical chaos ensues — learning covers on the fly, artists in the round comedy and impromptu songwriting sessions… and yes even Brandioke - you sing our songs and the twins and I are your backing band," she says.

She promises that her Mexican all-girls weekend will include sandcastle building, yoga and '80s singalongs.
