Three Arrested After Drug House Raided In Kalamazoo Sunday
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says that a team executed a search warrant to a home on North Park St. around 9pm Sunday, after tips led them to believe drugs were inside. Once inside, police found a large amount of crack cocaine and marijuana, along with a loaded handgun and almost $5,000 in cash.
Battle Creek Approves Medical Marijuana Businesses
At the Battle Creek City Commission meeting Tuesday night, two ordinances regarding the zoning and licensing of medical marijuana growers, testers, processors, transporters and dispensaries were voted on. Mayor Mark Behnke tells 95.3 WBCK that the ordinances passed 8-0, with Vice Mayor Dave Walters absent.
Kalamazoo Lawmaker Introduces Bill Expanding Bottle Deposits
In Michigan, we already pay a 10 cent deposit on bottles and cans of carbonated beverages, a measure introduced 42 years ago in order to incentivize recycling. Now, a measure to spread that deposit to most other drinks is being considered.
TreeHouse Foods Closing McCamly St. Plant By End Of 2018
TreeHouse Foods says in a release Wednesday that their facility at the corner of Dickman Rd. and McCamly will be closed over the next year, with around 84 employees being cut. TreeHouse bought the former Ralston plant from ConAgra Foods in February 2016, and by November of that year they had cut employees by 100.
Marijuana Extraction Facility Discovered Near Richland School
Richland Police were investigating a mobile home near Gull Lake Middle School, because they believed a marijuana growing operation was taking place. Inside the home, police found things like motor oil and butane gas, which led them to believe that the occupants were using the space to create hash oil.

The ACLU says that they have been receiving several complaints from citizens about possible racial profiling while being pulled over on a stretch of I-94 in southwest Michigan.
Athens Area Schools Employee Investigated For ‘Inappropriate Conduct’
