Another Great Kalamazoo Marathon in 2017

It was a little nippy for the volunteers and spectators, but the cool and sunny Sunday morning was perfect for the some 5,500 runners taking place in the 2017 Kalamazoo Marathon.   The Borgess Run for The Health of It event got started at 8 a.m. starting just past Borgess Medical Center on Gull Rd. The runners then followed a course that took them through downtown Kalamazoo and the WMU Campus.  Temperatures ranged from the upper 30’s to mid 40’s, but a stiff breeze made it seem a lot colder.  But the runners loved it, with some running bare-chested and at least one ran bare-footed.  (see gallery)

Thousands lined the streets all over town to cheer on the runners. Evan Williams, who grew up in Kalamazoo but now lives and works in Seattle, was the men’s winner.  Lindsey Doran, 28, of Evanston, Ill., was the winner among women.

Williams, 30, won with a time just over two hours, 42 minutes. That beat last year's best time (2:45:07) by more than two minutes.
