WMU Broncos coach P.J. Fleck not only impacted the university and it's football program, he leaves a legacy for all of us in Kalamazoo.

    He turned the program around

    In his first season as head coach in 2013, P.J. Fleck's Broncos had just one win and 11 losses. After back-to-back 8-5 seasons, Western Michigan had an undefeated regular season at 13-0 and a trip to the Cotton Bowl.

    He was a cheerleader for Kalamazoo

    Coach Fleck not only believed in his players, he rallied the entire city of Kalamazoo, calling it "elite."

    We all know the amazing things the team did on the field, but there were some incredible things off the field as well, including very special hospital visits.

    He instilled discipline in the football program.

    In an era where athletes' bad behavior seldom seems to lead to consequences, Coach Fleck acted quickly when 2 players were accused of serious crimes in August of 2016.
